A campaign poster featuring former Vice President, Atiku Abubaka and the Labour Party Presidential candidate during the 2023 election, Peter Obi, was posted on facebook by one Kennedy Nosa on Friday, May 17, 2024. Nosa, according to his bio on Facebook is a “Journalist, Public Affairs Commentator, Public Analyst and PR Consults”.
The campaign with the logo of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) with images of Atiku Abubakar and Peter Obi has some inscriptions which read “Be Atikulated, Let’s Get Nigeria Working Again 2027. Join the: Unifier, Job Creator, Technocrat, Fixer”.
The poster equally has an inscription “design:@Sam_Debayo.”
A message posted alongside the poster reads in pidgin English “Papa deceiving pikin. Pikin deceiving Papa. Obi dey learn politics the hard way ending up as VP. It will still end up in tears and failure in 2027.
It was posted in a facebook group page tagged ‘Tinubu Media Team.’ The poster claimed that Atiku and Obi have reached an agreement to run as Presidential and Vice-Presidential candidates of the Peoples Democratic Party in the 2027 generation elections.
One Abdul-Aziz Na’ibi Abubakar with X handle @jrnaib2 posted the campaign poster with “Are you in support?” at 9:21AM on January 4, 2024. He also posted at 9:10am on May 14,2024
VERIFICATION
Both Atiku and Obi held a meeting on Monday, May 12, 2024, at the former’s residence in Abuja.
Obi was Atiku’s running mate in the PDP for the 2019 presidential election. He, however, left the PDP in the build up to the 2023 presidential election and ran on the platform of the Labour Party.
On his part, Atiku flew the PDP’s flag again in the 2023 election and lost in the poll, coming second behind President Bola Tinubu who was a candidate of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
Using verification tools like Google reverse image, Yandex, it was shown that the same campaign poster first appeared on a https://m.soundcloud.com/user-124541536/waziri-atikusoundcloud with the title ‘Stream Waziri Atiku by K3 Reco’ on January 31, 2019. It was also used as a profile picture of an X handle (formerly twitter) tagged ‘Lagos Grassroot Project For Atiku-2019 @LagosObi. While the old poster indicated that it was meant for the 2019 election, the new one claimed that the campaign poster was for the 2027 election.

Further checks on Obi’s X handle and other social media accounts as well as reliable media platforms neither showed he has dumped LP and returned to PDP, nor agreed to force an alliance with Atiku ahead of next election.
Atiku has equally not posted on his social media accounts of any agreement reached between him and Obi for the 2027 election.
In any case, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) is yet to blow the whistle for the commencement of political activities ahead of the next election.
