Claim: APPLY FOR MINISTRY OF ENVIRONMENT RECRUITMENT 2024
A misleading post on Facebook has claimed that the Federal Government through the Federal Ministry of Environment is conducting a recruitment.
The information was posted on Facebook by “Recruitment Nigeria” on May 11, 2024, urging innocent Nigerians to apply by clicking the apply button on the post.

Suspicion rose in our mind knowing full well that the Federal Civil Service Commission is the only agency empowered to recruit for the Federal Government.
So, we pushed the apply button and it led us to another page where applicants were told to start their application process, with the link below.
Findings show that the above link leads to an advert for Harvard scholarship: Apply to the Harvard University Aspire Leaders Program (Fully-Funded)
The above link does not lead to any recruitment form concerning any job from the Federal Government, it is therefore a scam.
We observed that the Facebook post had gotten over 3,700 comments.
Furthermore, we searched for the Federal Ministry of Environment Recruitment on Facebook and got a few responses.
One of the results was checked and it took us to a dead end.
Furthermore, we proceeded to check the only result that did look like a real government website http://environment.gov.ng/
When clicked on, it landed on an original Federal Government website. The website however, had no information about any ongoing recruitment process.
From this official government website, we were able to note that recruitment was last carried out in this ministry in October, 2022.
This authenticates our findings, showing that the post on Facebook was done with an intent to drive traffic to that particular Facebook page.
Also, we observed that it could have been a means to access the details of innocent internet users that click on the post.
It must be noted that the post is misleading and could make the citizens lose trust in the government.
These are reactions from Facebook users who have been scammed too many times with things like this.
Verification
We made use of Spyonweb, Google search engine, and Google revers image in fact-checking this post.
Analysis of all the websites where the post was found presented the following information.
The website recruitmentNig.com has had its IP address changed 66 times in 5 years and it was recently re-registered on January 26, 2024 with an expiry date of January 26, 2025.
Applyjunkie.com on the other hand has had 21 changes done on its IP address under a year.
The website was just 33 days old when we fact checked, and it was registered by a private customer in Arizona United States.
Verdict
From all of the above, it has become abundantly clear that the information about the Federl Ministry of Environment recruitment is false.
The masses are advised to be extra vigilant and very careful before applying for jobs online or filling any application form.
This is because the people behind such post may be out to phish for information.
They may also have intention to discredit the government or stir up distrust depending on what their motives are.
Evidently, it has been proven that there is no recruitment, and job seekers must follow the right procedures when applying to a job
