On September 28, 2025, a claim surfaced on Facebook that the Governor of Anambra State, Prof Charles Chukwuemeka Soludo, is booking all hotel rooms in the State to shelter hoodlums, fake INEC officials and fake security agents to rig the forthcoming November 8, guber elections in Anambra State.
The information was posted on Facebook by one Christian Obi under the APGA Interactive Forum, a page on Facebook that has more than 84k members.
Verification:
It is a known fact that when elections are approaching a lot of propaganda and fake news are peddled around by individuals who intend to gain from them or use this information to incite people to violence.
Upon coming in contact with this piece, we decided to fact-check its content.
A post like this can be injurious to the second term campaign bid of the sitting governor who was elected on the platform of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) and is currently the party’s flagbearer for the November 8 gubernatorial election.
However, to ascertain the truth behind this claim, all major news outlets were checked for all information relating to this claim and we found out that Gov Soludo had in a statement on September 18, 2025, requested only Ken Suites & Hotels to reserve all rooms in their hotel for the use of government guests during the Guber election period.
The statement according to Daily Independent and News Express reads:
“You are by this letter directed to reserve all your rooms for 5 days from 4th and 9th November,2025, for the accommodation of government guests throughout the period.
“Kindly forward your terms and conditions for the reservation for our consideration within three days”,
Below is a copy of the letter signed by Soba, J.U, for Secretary to the State Government.
From the above, it becomes clear that the governor never ordered the shutdown of all hotels within the state as erroneously reported.
Note that the governor’s request was directed to only Ken Suites & Hotels and this clearly stated in black and white in the letter signed by the secretary to the state.
Also, the statement clearly stated that the reservation was meant for government officials not hoodlums or fake security agents or fake INEC officials as suggested by Christian Obi, Ziko Gerald and any others fake news peddlers who are trying to misinform the innocent citizens of Anambra state.
Verdict:
The Facebook claim that Governor Chukwuemeka Soludo booked all hotel rooms in Anambra for hoodlums, fake security agents and fake INEC officials in preparation for rigging the November 8, 2025, guber election is false.
It is a statement meant to incite citizens to violence and destroy whatever level of trust the people had in the government.
