Has The President Acquired a 100 million dollar Plane?

In our ongoing commitment to promoting transparency and openness for the benefit of the public, we conducted a fact-check on a post circulating on X (formerly Twitter). The post, made by Omoleye Sowore on July 15, 2024, on his official X handle @YeleSowore, claims that President. Ahmed Bola Tinubu had already bought a 100 million dollar Jet and it is ready for delivelry.

The post on X has gathered 131000 views, 1,164  repost, 149 quotes, 1,595 likes amd 116 Bookmarks as at the time of verifying the post.

Earlier on the 28th of June 2024 Aviation in Nigeria on X with the handle @avinnblog posted on the platform Nigeria Airforce a new VIP AA3 currently at Basel.

Also Premuim Times published a story on the 28th of June with the headline “EXCLUSIVE: Presidential Jet: Nigerian govt to buy foreclosed aircraft from German Bank.

The identified aircraft is said to be a repossessed one recovered from a troubled oil sheikh who used the aeroplane as collateral for a loan he obtained from an unidentified German bank to buy it.

A look at the post made by @YeleSowore on the 15th of July 2024 shows the description of the 100 million dollar jet(initially christened VP-CAC now registered as 5N-FGA) claimed to have been bought by President Ahmed BolaTinubu is exactly same as the jet said to have been acquired by the Nigerian Air Force (5N-FGA (ex- VP-CAC)VIP AA3) posted on X on the 28th of June 2024 by @avinnnlog which had the location of the plane at Basel. Fastforeward to  the 15th of July 2024 at 6:05 @avinnblog posted the tail of the said plane with the caption 5N-FGA, Nigerian Air Force Presidential Air Fleet (PAF).

Politics Nigeria on the 15th of July published a story with the headline Photo of Tinubu’s N150 billion new private jet hits the internet

A search on an open source tools  Planespotters website revealed the plane is registered as 5N-FGA previously registered as VP-CAC, Aircraft type Airbus A330-200, due to be delivered and operated by the Nigeria Airforce.

In light of these facts the aircraft registered 5N-FGA previously registered as VP-CAC is currently  operated by the Nigerian Airforce and currently in the Nigerian Presidential Air Fleet, the Claim by Omoyele Sowore is true.
