The post claims that President Bola Tinubu urged the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Prof. Nentawe Goshwe Yilwatda, to open a scheme offering ₦185,000 to Nigerians.

The post include a supposed application link “https://gvly.xyz/FG-National-Family-Support-Allowance”, encouraging users to “apply now” and “share with others”.

We conducted this fact-check due to its virality on this encrypted platform and its potential to mislead the public.

Verification

We combed the website of the Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation but found no ongoing registration for such a scheme.

Also, we found that the ministry had in January 2025 warned the general public to be aware of fake websites that claimed to be set up by the ministry.

We observed that the link attached to the message is not a Nigerian government-recognised domain, which often ends with “.gov.ng”.

The application process, which asks users to share an unauthorised link with groups and also requires personal information and banking details, is a common red flag for phishing or scam websites.

This phishing claim is similar to other malicious links debunked by Halt Fake, which can be found here, here, and here.

A keyword search on Google revealed that the claim had earlier gone viral on social media platforms in August 2025 before it resurfaced on WhatsApp in November.

Conclusion

The claim that the federal government has launched a “National Family Support Scheme” offering ₦185,000 to Nigerians is false.

No evidence or official announcement supports such a programme. The circulating message contains a phishing link designed to scam unsuspecting Nigerians.
