On Friday, June 20, 2025, reports claiming that Nigeria’s President, Bola Tinubu, was almost attacked in Kaduna emerged sparking widespread confusion among many.
This claim which went viral in no time was published via several platforms including Facebook, YouTube, X, etc fueling its visibility and vitality.
However, the question remains; was President Tinubu attacked in Kaduna or are bloggers and perhaps politicians spreading misinformation and disinformation?

The viral nature of this report is what prompted this Factcheck you’re reading.
Background
The claim was published on Facebook by Emeka Gift Official, a user with 128k followers, with the caption; “Moment President Tinubu was almost attacked in Kaduna state today.”
At the time of this report, the post has gathered: 2.5k views, 76 shares, 13 comments, and 119 likes.

Emeka shared a two minutes, twenty four seconds video of Tinubu in Kaduna.
In the video, the Nigerian leader was seen addressing residents of the state. Few minutes later, his security guards were seen rushing to protect him.
The short video did not show what happened next, leaving us more curious about this information.

On YouTube, the claim was shared by Viable TV, and as of the time of this check, the video had garnered 3.2k views.

Viable TV shared the same video Emeka Gift Official shared on Facebook. The post was captioned; “Security breach in Kaduna as President Tinubu’s speech interrupted by attempted attack”.
Another Facebook user, 4fun Mamamia also shared this information.
The post was captioned; “President Tinubu almost got attacked in Kaduna”.
As of the time of this Factcheck, the post has 9k likes, 527 comments, and 766 shares.
Verification
Since the incident was reported in video, it is only normal that we begin our check on the number one video platform YouTube.
We combined the search query; Tinubu Kaduna Attack, and we found the full video of the incident shared by credible sources, notably Channels Television.
In the one minutes, ten seconds video posted by Channels Television, Tinubu could be heard saying “Leave him alone” shortly after his security guards moved to stop a man who was approaching the podium.
Channels TV captioned the video: “ ‘Leave him alone’, Tinubu says as man tries to approach him in Kaduna”.

Similarly, Punch Newspaper published the same video on Facebook with the caption; “Man tries to approach President Tinubu in Kaduna” further burying claims of an attack on the president.

We also combined the same search query via Google. We found that the Kaduna State Government had debunked the claim that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu was nearly attacked during his visit to the state.

After thorough investigation, we can conclude that reports claiming that President Tinubu was attacked in Kaduna is false.
The claim was published to gain engagement and impression.
