Full Text
Anambra State electorate went to the polls to elect a new governor for the state today, November 8, 2025. The top political parties and their candidates include Nicholas Ukachukwu (All Progressives Congress), Dr George Moughalu (Labour Party) John Nwosu (African Democratic Congress) Paul Chukwuma (Young Progressives Party) and Ms Chioma Ifemeludike (African Action Alliance), among others.
As voters are patiently waiting for the outcome of the election and the official announcement of the winner, a Facebook user, Amb innocent Nduanya, posted on APGA Interactive Forum, that the APC candidate had won the election. He posted an image of the candidate of the APC candidate celebrating his victory amidst fanfare, with a caption “Congratulations APC Anambra”.

Verification
Election day for the Anambra State 2025 governorship poll has seen voting across polling units, but no credible source reports a final, official declaration of the winner by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) as of the time of writing this report.
Media reports confirm that Ukachukwu, the APC candidate, claimed success in some polling-units. For example, one report recorded 73 votes for him at one polling unit versus 38 votes for the incumbent governor.
However, winning a polling unit or celebrating a campaign event is not equivalent to being officially declared governor.
We observed that the image caption’s wording shows some typographical errors and anachronistic elements such as “neewly elected Gowiinor of Analership new down, a unity, unity, and progress”. This raises red flags about accuracy and context.
There is no supporting evidence from independent election observers or INEC confirming that the APC candidate has secured the majority or that the results have been fully certified.

Conclusion
The claim that the APC candidate in the Anambra 2025 governorship election, Prince Nicholas Ukachukwu, has been declared the newly elected governor of the State is false.
INEC has not declared any winner as of when this report was put together.
