“His live is more important now than ordinary citizens. We have to do that as fast as possible – Godswill Akpabio.”

The X account owner also added: “What an arrogant voluminous Statement!”

Below is the same post on Facebook with the account name, Ogbomoso Focus Tv.

The massage forwarded on Whatsapp read: “BREAKING NEWS: We know Nigerians are hungry, but that will not stop us to approve private jet for Mr. President. His live is more important now than ordinary citizens. We have to do that as fast as possible – Godswill Akpabio”.

Verification

Since the news spread last week on a need to get a new private jet for the president, we decided to fact check this claim.

We reached out to Hon Eseme Eyiboh, who is the Special Adviser Media/Publicity and Spokesperson to the President of the Senate.

The spokesperson to the Senate President sent a capture indicating the breaking news is a fake news.

Conclusion

The viral posts on the social networks and that being shared on Whatsapp as a forwarded message are false news, and have been debunked by the office of the President of the Senate.
