There was a claim on the Igbo Times Magazine’s Facebook page that President Donald Trump (USA) had cancelled an earlier scheduled summit with President Bola Tinubu. The claim described President Tinubu as “a president not constitutionally elected by his people”
The post surfaced on November 7, 2025, at about 7:43 pm, on a Facebook page with at least 43k followers.

Verification
Investigation shows that after President Donald Trump’s threat on November 1, 2025, to invade Nigeria and put an end to Christian genocide in the North. Nigeria began making efforts for President Bola Tinubu to meet face-to-face with President Trump, either at the White House or in Abuja.
However, reports gathered online from Sahara Reporters suggest that the proposed face-to-face meeting plan hit a brick wall.
Furthermore, in a 13-minute-43-seconds video by one Dr Omoshola Deji, on YouTube tagged: Trump Shames Tinubu, Rejects Meeting Request After U.S. Declares Nigeria a Country of Concern. Omoshola
explained why Trump refused to see President Tinubu. The video had already gathered over 14k views and 226 comments

We also found the claim on more Facebook pages, among them is I News a page where this post has 1.5k comments and 814 shares. I News page has 182k followers.

Meanwhile, The Legal Observer, an online media platform, on November 3, 2025, published a report that President Tinubu called off his trip abroad to resolve the ongoing diplomatic friction with President Trump’s administration in hopes of meeting President Trump at the forthcoming G-20 summit in South Africa.
While there are many sides to this story, we could not find any evidence to support the claim that Trump’s administration ever agreed to a face-to-face meeting with Tinubu.
What we were, however, able to find out is that Tinubu’s administration has not been able to secure a meeting with Donald Trump.
This, therefore, suggests that the Facebook posts and publications carrying this information are spreading fake news.
Verdict
President Donald Trump never scheduled or cancelled any meeting with President Bola Tinubu. Though there are efforts to schedule a meeting but that plan has not yielded any fruit.
Also, Trump did not at any time describe Tinubu as a president who was not constitutionally elected.
Therefore, the claim is not true and can be termed fictitious or fake.
