Claim
A post made by Ojulowoomoyorubatv on Facebook is claiming that voters under the Osun East senatorial district have petitioned the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to recall Sen. Francis Fadahunsi.
The claim says that the petitioners are recalling their senator in the National Assembly over what they described as “a loss of confidence in his representation”.
As of the time of this verification, the post had gathered 1.3k likes on Facebook, 559 comments and 222 reposts.

Verification
Senator Francis Fadahunsi was a major actor in the drama that played out in the build-up towards the recently concluded Osun governorship election. He had, in a video, made inciting statements that could trigger violence during the election.
So, when we stumbled on this post, at first, it felt like some people were trying to drive traction to their Facebook page.
So we searched Google for anything remotely connected with this claim, and the image below highlights what we found.
Then we proceeded to check the independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) website to see if the Commission has received any petition from the aggrieved petitioners. Also, here’s what we found.
However, we were able to find a copy of the petition on the Facebook page of Osogbo Update.
The petition
We also found a petition on change.org where signatures are being sought for the recall of Senator Francis Fadahunsi representing Osun East senatorial district at the National Assembly.
Verdict – False and Misleading
After painstakingly fact-checking the claim, we found out that there truly is a petition to recall Senator Francis Fadahunsi from the National Assembly by Osun East voters, and the petition is gaining momentum on Facebook and gathering signatures on change.org.
However, there is no evidence from INEC that it has received such a petition.
Therefore, the claim is false and misleading.
This position is premised on the fact that before the Osun governorship election, when his ‘Kill Them speech went viral, it was carried by most reputable news agencies in Nigeria.
However, the same cannot be said of this claim.
