Shortly after Senator Ademola Adeleke was re-elected as the governor of Osun State, a message claiming the governor was doling out ₦15,000 to celebrate his victory at the poll began circulating on WhatsApp and other social media platforms.
It included a link where people were directed to click and obtain the money.
It read as shown in the screenshot below,
A click on the link showed a flyer of the governor and his nephew, a popular hip hop singer, Davido.

Why We Checked
Links of this nature in the past turned out to be the first stage of a syndicated plot to defraud the public.
Verification
We began verification by clicking on the highlighted blue part with the word ‘Accept’. This leads to another page asking people to submit their names and account details;

We decided to look around a bit to see evidence of authenticity.

In the comment section, some people claimed to have received the money, while others were asking if it was authentic.
Those comments affirming receipt of cash transfer were not enough to reach a conclusion.
We decided to check the official pages of both Davido and Governor Adeleke, but found that on the X handle of Davido, there was no official publication regarding the giveaway.
Davido (his nephew) publicly celebrated the victory on X with messages like “WE DID IT UNC,” but neither he nor the governor announced any mass ₦15,000 cash transfer or similar payout to the public.
Also, on Governor Ademola Adeleke’s X handle, there was no such announcement.
We decided to put a call through to a governor’s office correspondent in Osun State. The source indicated that the information was completely false. “None of such exists; it is not true”, she said.
Most importantly, we found that similar claims circulated in 2022.
A further check on the website revealed that it was suspicious and newly created. The domain celebration.davidocollaborate.forum is extremely recent and registered around early August 2026, only about a week old at the time of related checks). It has very low traffic, and Scam Adviser notes it as young with limited trust signals.

Posts of this nature in the past have been used to harvest personal details (bank account numbers, phone numbers, etc.) and often demand sharing the link further (classic engagement-bait phishing).
Other Red Flags In The Message
- Urgency in the message and the “I just got mine” social proof are signs it may gave been created to defraud the pubic.
- Vague “POWERED BY: Davido” branding without any official verification.
- Link to a non-official, newly registered site.
These are hallmarks of phishing/scam messages that try to collect banking or personal data under the guise of free money.
Verdict: FALSE
The information is false and an attempt to swindle unsuspecting people under the guise of celebrating the election victory of Governor Ademola Adeleke.
Members of the public are advised to ignore the message.
Do not visit the link, and do not share personal or financial details.
Report it as spam if it appears on WhatsApp or elsewhere.
Legitimate support or payouts from public figures or government (if any) are often announced transparently through verified official channels.
