Fact-Check: Did Soludo Shutdown All Private Schools On October 7, For Endorsement Rally?

A Facebook post published by AIFMedia surfaced on October 7, 2025, with claims that the Governor of Anambra State, Professor Chukwuemeka Soludo, shut down all the private schools in the state and ordered both parents and school owners to be at Ekwueme Square for an endorsement rally.

The claim stated that following the total rejection of Prof. Soludo by ndi Anambra (people of Anambra).

The governor is now begging for endorsement which has necessitated his halting academic activities in all private schools, for their participation in his endorsement rally towards the forthcoming November 8, 2025, gubernatorial election in the state.

Verification:

You see, the forthcoming Anambra State gubernatorial election has given rise to so much misinformation across the state, triggering a need to fact-check any piece of information that comes our way.

Commencing our investigation, we searched the internet for what activity took place at the Alex Ekwueme Square on the said date..

Our findings revealed that Prof Chukwuemeka Soludo, declared October 7, 2025, a school free day in Anambra State, but the purpose was not for any endorsement rally.

Governor Soludo had declared the day school free to celebrate the World Teachers Day and honour those in the teaching profession.

Below is a signed statement from the office of the State Commissioner for Education, Prof. Ngozi Chuma-Udeh.

We further searched on the pages of all the reputable media outlets, looking out for any endorsement rally at Alex Ekwueme Square on October 7, 2025.

We found no evidence to support the claim that Governor Soludo held any endorsement rally at the Alex Ekwueme Square on October 7, 2025.

However, we found reports that the state government on October 7, 2025, honoured the World Teachers Day celebration and held the event at the Alex Ekwueme on Vanguard News, and Tribune Online

Although Governor Soludo did order school closures in the Nnewi zone for a week to prevent potential violence during Senator Ubah’s funeral, that situation has no connection with this claim about shutting down private schools for an endorsement rally.

Verdict:

The facebook post by AIF Media is false, incorrect, untrue and not factual. It is a post made with the purpose of tarnishing the image of Gov Soludo or for malicious reasons.
