A link circulating on social media, particularly on WhatsApp, claims that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has provided a link for the Continuous Voters Registration (CVR) ahead of the forthcoming general elections.
The link, https://tinydash.pro/inec (https://cvr-inec-online-registration.earngo.pro/inec.html) has been widely shared across various platforms, attracting many Nigerians who are willing to get themselves registered.
Given the widespread circulation of the claim and the sensitivity of the institution involved, a fact-check was conducted to verify its authenticity.

Verification
- Inconsistency in Website Address
The website link being circulated does not correspond with INEC’s official website, www.inec.org. Furthermore, INEC’s official Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) portal is https://cvr.inecnigeria.org/Home/start, which is entirely different from the link being shared.
A comparison between the two websites reveals significant differences. The registration page in circulation lacks the logical and procedural requirements expected for voter registration. In contrast, the official INEC portal contains a structured process requiring detailed biodata and other relevant information necessary for voter registration.

Contradictory Registration Deadlines
The suspicious website states that the Continuous Voter Registration exercise will end on 17 August 2026.
However, the information displayed on INEC’s official portal indicates that the registration exercise will close on 30 August 2026.
This discrepancy raises serious concerns about the credibility of the circulated link.

- Acceptance of Inaccurate and Incomplete Information
Further testing revealed that the website accepts inaccurate and incomplete information without any form of validation.
For instance:
- “Nigeria” was accepted as a Local Government Area.
- The phone number “1234567890” was accepted as a valid contact number.
- “@gmail.com” was accepted as a valid email address.
Given the sensitive nature of voter registration data, which forms part of a national database and serves as a means of identification, it is expected that stringent verification measures would be in place to ensure the accuracy and authenticity of submitted information.

- Absurd Requirement for Registration Approval
At the end of the registration process, users receive a congratulatory message informing them that their registration will only be approved after they share the link with at least five other people.
While citizens are often encouraged to promote civic participation by encouraging others to register to vote, sharing a registration link has never been a prerequisite for voter registration approval. Such a condition would effectively disenfranchise eligible voters and constitute a violation of their democratic rights.

Verdict
The evidence clearly indicates that the website in question is not affiliated with the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
The inconsistencies in the website address, conflicting registration deadlines, acceptance of false information, and the requirement to share the link before approval collectively demonstrate that the platform is fraudulent.
Why is the Link Being Circulated?
The individual(s) behind the website appear to be exploiting public interest in the electoral process and the eagerness of Nigerians to register for voter cards or secure temporary employment opportunities associated with elections.
The most likely motive is clickbait and traffic generation. By encouraging users to share the link widely, the operators increase website visits and redirect unsuspecting individuals to promotional content where they earn revenue from advertisements or referrals.
Evidence gathered during the investigation suggests that users are eventually redirected to pages advertising products or services, potentially generating earnings of up to $213 for the operators through affiliate marketing schemes.
Conclusion
The link is false. However, citizens are therefore advised to obtain information regarding voter registration and election-related activities only from INEC’s official communication channels and genuine media platforms.
