The alleged circular is entitled “Closure of Forty-Seven (47) Federal Unity Colleges” and claims the shutdown was due to security challenges and the need to prevent possible breaches.

Also, the document is dated 21st December 2025 and is purportedly signed by the Minister of Education.

Verification

A review of the claims reveals several red flags:

  1. Duplicate School Names

    • FGGC Kazaure appears twice.

    • FGC Kiyawa appears twice.

    • FTC Hadeja and FTC Hadejia both appear in the list, indicating duplication with inconsistent spelling.

  2. No Official Publication
The circular cannot be found on any official platform of the Federal Ministry of Education, including:

  3. Official Denial
The Federal Ministry of Education, through its verified Twitter (X) handle @NigEducation, and verified Facebook page  issued a press statement titled “Public Notice: Disclaimer on False School-Closure Message in Circulation.”
The Ministry categorically said it did not issue any circular ordering the closure of Unity Schools.

 4. Date of the Document

The alleged circular is dated 21st December 2025, even when we are in November.

Conclusion

The claim that the Federal Ministry of Education has shut down 47 Federal Unity Colleges is false and misleading.

There is no evidence supporting the authenticity of the circular, and the Ministry of Education has officially debunked the closure of any school in Nigeria.
